Jason
Jason has attended Fox Valley Church since 2005, when he and his wife, Kaydi, were married here. They have been members of FVC for approximately 15 years. They have four children: Ruth (15), Tim (12), Laura (9), and Ida (3). Jason has served as a bass player in the worship ministry for 19 years and also spent several years working with youth ministry.
Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in English/Communications from Trinity International University and a master’s degree in Literacy Education from Judson University. He is a teacher and has taught in both private and public school settings. Jason spent 7 years teaching middle school writing and high school English at Westminster Christian School in Elgin before taking a position at Lake Zurich Middle School North. At MSN Jason has taught 8th grade ELA and social studies and currently teaches middle school art. He also works with the middle school stagecraft program.
Jason’s spiritual gifts include service, faith, and discernment. His favorite hobbies include tabletop gaming, creative outlets like writing and drawing, reading a wide variety of novels and comic books, and napping in his car after chauffeuring his children to various activities. He hopes to bring an analytical mind, a reasonable spirit, and a calming presence that can only be developed by spending years surrounded by middle schoolers to the pastoral council.
Fun Fact about Jason: He was active in theater during college, performing in a total of seven plays and musicals. His favorite role was the Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland when his costume had approximately 10 arms, which all moved in tandem. Pictures may still exist somewhere . . .
