Jere Miller

Jere was born on the south side of Chicago and lived there for his first 10 years.  Then his family moved to Riverdale in the far south suburbs.  After high school, Jere attended junior college, and on August 23, 1975, he married his sweetheart of four years, Jana.

Jere and Jana are blessed with 3 children, their spouses, and 7 grandchildren.  They live in Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and Palatine, which keeps them busy attending family functions and sporting events.

By the prompting of the Holy Spirit and Jere’s sister Pam, Jana, and Jere both repented of their sin and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, 1977, at Calvary Temple in Naperville.  They were later baptized together in 1985 at First Baptist Church of Hoffman Estates.  Jere was also ordained as a Deacon at this church.

In 1995, they moved their membership to Calvary Community Church in Schaumburg, where they stayed for 23 years.  Here, Jana and Jere served for 17 years in the nursery and led the Baptism Ministry for 20 years.  They also served on the Care Team and in the Alpha Program.  In addition, Jere served four terms as an Elder going through a building campaign to build a new sanctuary and a pastoral search for a new Senior Pastor.

Jere began his career as a fence installer, working throughout Chicago and the suburbs.  He worked his way up to shop manager, division manager, and eventually, Vice President at two different companies. When retirement came, the couple downsized and moved to Carillon at Cambridge Lakes in Pingree Grove. Here, Jere attends a monthly Men’s Prayer Group to pray for the community.  He also attends the Friendship and Faith Bible Study and serves on the Buildings and Grounds Commission.

Jere and Jana have attended Fox Valley Church since 2018, serving in Journey Land, Administer Justice, and as Life Group Shepherds.  Jere was also a member of the Home Visits Team during Phase 1 of Light for the Future.  Jere believes in the power of the cross and the power of Jesus’ blood.  You can, too, if you haven’t done so yet.  See me and we can talk – I gotta Guy!! To God be the Glory!

Joshua 22:5 says “But be careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
